Postcard: Berlin

This is the postcard I bought from the Bauhaus-Archiv Museum of Design in Berlin.

Herbert Bayer
design for a newspaper stand, 1924

I later opened my envelope to discover it also contained a promo postcard from the Bauhaus-Shop.

design, original, beauty, function, minimal, form, idea, colour, modern: bauhaus:shop

The next two postcards are from the Pergamonmuseum, which sits on the northern part of Museum Island along with the Altes Museum, Neues Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie and Bode Museum.

Illustrator: Susanne Mocka

The Pergamonmuseum contains an antiquities collection, the Middle East museum and the museum of Islamic art.  I was amused to be learning so much about the Middle East in Berlin, but also was just generally amazed by the extent of antiquity collecting in the UK and Germany and the resultant amazing collections that exist today.
