Levity III

Yesterday after blowing bubbles in the urban orchard for a couple of hours, I went to Levity III, the luminarium in Forrest Place. If you haven't had a chance to look, its only open till Sunday so make sure you get in quick! Its free to enter but its good to go early and get a ticket for a particular timeslot.

Here are a few images of the interior.

I found it was a bit like being inside a creature of some sort, inside tubes of the body. In each main chamber it seemed like all colours were eliminated except for one (it made people look quite strange) and these chambers affected the colour of nearby surfaces and spaces. I liked the little round rooms that came off the bigger chambers, people sat or lay inside them immersing themselves in the coloured light.

The luminarium is a pneumatic structure made of PVC. I think most of it is grey, with certain bits are coloured and these illuminate the interior.

It was designed by the Architects of Air.

Here is the plan of Levity III.

I am amazed by the power of the coloured panels to light the whole interior such bright tints
